Dear ADEE friends,
It is my great pleasure and honour to have been selected by you to serve as ADEE President for 2016 – 2017. Thanks to those who have preceded me in this very prestigious role and who have served on the Executive Committee I inherit an Association of strength and one that is highly respected within Europe and internationally.
In collaboration with my Executive Committee colleagues, I anticipate my term as president will follow three main streams in its approach, namely an international, a European and ADEE member focus, with a core theme of ‘realignment and convergence of European dental education’. We aim to be the central point of all things dental education in Europe and to the key provider of support and advise on dental education to other European level dental bodies.
Europe and many of our School members have experienced challenging economic times in recent years and it is important for the Association that we work towards the delivery of a new Dental Education environment that meets the needs of those we serve.
We hope the Association will continue to grow from strength to strength. In 2016 we will finalise the review of the work of our taskforces to ensure they are updated and fit for purpose. Our Scientific meetings will continue to be the focus of our annual activities, and these will be revitalised to meet member needs. In August 2016 ADEE visits Barcelona and in 2017 we travel to Vilnius. We are also planning a new joint meeting with our colleagues in ADEA in May 2017 in London.
We encourage schools to consider using our LEADER programme as a means of enabling continuous quality improvement in their activities. LEADER draws on ADEE experience of DentEd and School visits to provide guidance in a collegial and supportive manner.
I invite you to visit our webpages regularly and ensure you create a user profile and subscribe to our e-News so as to keep informed of the latest updates.
