Title: Teaching Evidence Based Dentistry Content: A 4-hour workshop for dental educators that interactively demonstrates the concepts for teaching evidence based dentistry. The workshop will explore methods of collaborative learning from scientists, researchers and healthcare professionals to teach the key elements of evidence based practice:
developing a clinical question,
finding evidence and
The goal of which is to ensure dental educators have the knowledge and skills to deliver effective evidence based teaching.
Invited Workshop Facilitator:
Dr. Analia Veitz-Keenan Director of Evidence Based Dentistry at NYUCD and was recently appointed Editorial Advisor for Evidence-based teaching : Cochrane Oral Health Group. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology and Medicine at NYU College of Dentistry. She is a member and presently Chair of the NYUCD Academy of Distinguished Educators. Dr. Veitz-Keenan participated as a Reviewer for the ADA Evidence Based Dentistry website and contributes regularly with her commentaries in the Evidence Based Dentistry Journal and the Journal of Evidence Dental Practice.
She is currently the liaison for the Cochrane Oral Health Group Alliance and NYU College of Dentistry where she coordinates workshops and authors’ reviews with the Cochrane Oral Health Group. She completed her training in Evidence Based Practice at McMaster University in Canada, at the Center for Evidence Based Dentistry in Oxford, UK and in the ADA/Oxford/Forsyth course for Evidence Based Dentistry.
