A user workshop hosted by KaVo, giving participants the possibilities to work hands-on with a tooth preparation validation tool.
Self-assessment in dental education is an important and valuable skill that students practice throughout the whole curricula.
In skills laboratory students evaluate their tooth preparations and receive feedback from instructors.
Distinct criteria and goals are crucial for the students in accomplishing approved preparations.
Giving feedback in a constructive way is quite demanding sometimes for teachers, in order to maintain the objectivity.
A tooth preparation validation tool is a helpful and objective way of processing the results of the students´ preparations by direct comparison with an intact tooth or a master preparation. Observing preparations in a three-dimensional perspective and performing measurements between different sets of teeth can provide students information in a more objective and understandable way.
In the workshop, we will hear Dr. Annika Kozarovska from the Department of Materials Science and Technology at the Faculty of Odontology at Malmö University sharing experiences from students and faculty members working with the Dental Teacher.
