We wish to advise delegates that we have been made aware that work is planned for the runway at Vilnius airport for the month of August.
While the work is scheduled to be completed by 17th August some low-cost airlines (Ryanair, Wizzair, Easyjet) have decided not to operate flights to Vilnius until 1st September. Please note this just affects low cost airlines and from what we are aware many airlines such as British Airways, Finn Air, Brussels Airlines, SAS, Air Baltic, KLM, Air France, Lufthansa and their code share partners are continuing to operate a normal service to Vilnius from 18th August.
Should you wish to avail of low-cost carriers the best option is to book a direct flight to Kaunas, Lithuania’s second city. Situated approximately 100 km from Vilnius with regular bus transfers operating every 30 minutes to Vilnius. Journey time is about 1 hour costing €10 each way. You can pre book the bus here or purchase on arrival.
Being the largest city in the Baltics, Vilnius lies at the crossroads of East and West. Such a central location makes Lithuanian’s capital city easily reachable by plane, train, bus or car. Vilnius is easily accessible by air from all major European cities. It takes never more than three hours to fly from many European cities and "hubs" including Barcelona, Paris, Copenhagen, London, Frankfurt. Vilnius International Airport is located just outside the centre of Vilnius. It is only 7 km/15 min driving distance from the centre of the city.
Flight times to Vilnius:
Access to the city is quick and inexpensive. Guests can use buses, train and taxi services. City buses No. 1, 2, 88, 3G run from/to the airport every 10-15 min. The airport train station includes a passenger lift and is located directly in front of the airport. Tickets are sold on board for just 0.72 Eur. Train schedules can be found at www.litrail.lt.
Taxis can be found outside the Arrival Hall or they can be ordered at the Vilnius Tourist Information Centre at the Arrival Hall A. The price for a taxi from the airport to the city centre is around 10 Eur. For up-to-date information on flights, schedules, new routes and airlines see www.vno.lt.
