ADEE - Association for Dental Education in Europe
News for September 2014
Consultation with ADEE members concerning update of the Professional Qualifications Directive
As ADEE members already know, ADEE participates in the update of the Professional Qualifications Directive, whose Annex will be amended during 2015. At present, this Annex includes the qualifications of the graduate dentist in the form of a "list of subjects" (Anatomy, Biology, Oral surgery, etc), an outdated concept of dental education (and higher education, in general).
ADEE proposes that this "list of subjects" is replaced by a "list of competences", which reflects the current concept on education, and CED (Council of European Dentists) is also consulting in this endeavour.
The Association for Dental Education in Europe is pleased to celebrate its 40th Anniversary in 2015. To help mark this milestone ADEE has approved the ADEE 40th Anniversary Scholarship Programme.
The ADEE 40th Anniversary Scholarship is aimed at member schools that currently have individuals participating in Master and Doctorate programmes in dental education. ADEE wishes to support those members who are currently undertaking Masters of Doctorate level degree programmes that are focused on Dental Education. Such programmes normally lead to the award of M.Ed, MA (Ed), EdD or PhD.

The research landscape can be a challenging road to navigate. Successfully navigating the research "road map" often requires some shifts in traditional research and funding conversations.
Our kind colleagues in Riga have made available the entire photo stream from ADEE 2014. You can access and download photographs until 30th September via http://fs.st-inst.lv/public.php?service=gallery&t=aa1adaf7aea8bbb7287767fcac00a02f Please also visit the ADEE Flickr page.
Presentations to Special Interest Groups Riga Meeting
We are pleased to advise that the special interest group page of the ADEE 2014 meeting in Riga has now been updated with the presentations made at the SIG meetings. Over the coming weeks we will be migrating the Special Interest Groups to their own individual webpages which will enable the SIGs continue their work between meetings. ADEE thanks most sincerely the SIG leaders and of course all of the many participants who make the work of the SIGs a valuable contribution to Dental Education in Europe.
