The department of orthodontics delivers the best possible care for all patients with a malocclusion, children, adolescents and adults, in a multidisciplinary environment. The healthcare program of Dentofacial Pathologies and Malocclusion can rely on the support of a strong team of experienced orthodontists that also take part in other healthcare programs such as cleft lip and palate. We aim to continue belonging to the top centers of orthodontics by remaining active in clinical excellence, orthodontic training and scientific research. As a reference training center and together with our educational duties, patient care remains a permanent focus of critical self-evaluation, which brings UZ Leuven to closely collaborate with the Group of Biomedical Sciences in order to promote the development of the training of medical and paramedical professions.

As a clinical coordinator, you will be responsible for the organization, further growth and supervision of the clinical practice developed by the members of the section of orthodontics. This function supports on three pillars:
Clinical care: as medical sta member, you are able to work with quality and innovation in mind.

Education and training: you are willing to teach students.

Your function as clinical coordinator includes, among others, the following duties:
Supervising the orthodontic residents in training during their clinical hours, when they deliver orthodontic treatment to children, adolescents and adults. This includes supervising the discussion of treatment planning within all healthcare programs where an orthodontic treatment is needed.
Representing the section of orthodontics in multidisciplinary meetings such as the orthognatic team, the cleft lip and palate team, the dental diagnostic clinic, etc.
Taking part in the evidence-based theoretical training of the orthodontic residents, covering relevant clinical topics framed in their postgraduate educational program.
It is also expected that the coordinator will take part in the weekly meetings with the residents. The coordinator will also be considered as the contact person for the clinical instructors of the section of orthodontics and he/she will also coordinate the referrals of the external dentists. The coordinator will also control the correct registration of the clinical activities performed by the residents in training and will assist during the clinical assessment of undergraduate students regarding orthodontics. It is strongly recommended that the coordinator treats his/her own private patients. Specific consultation hours will be set for this purpose in agreement with the rest of sta members of the department. The coordinator will work together with the staff towards establishing and maintaining clinical and academic contacts and will strive to achieving the European recognition of the postgraduate program of orthodontics. After a trial period of 12 months and a positive evaluation in which the requirements below are also met, the coordinator will be able to join the permanent medical sta of the section of orthodontics of the dentistry department.
You are a dentist specialized in orthodontics recognized in Belgium and you meet all the criteria to maintain this recognition.
You have obtained a doctorate degree after public defense of your thesis and your resume shows your ambition.
You have a thorough knowledge of the modifi ed standard edgewise treatment technique.
You are communicative in your relationship with your colleagues, students and staff .
Candidates who do not speak Dutch are expected to have acquired su cient knowledge of Dutch within 2 years (ILT level 5) to provide services and education properly in this language.
Good knowledge of English is also a requirement and knowledge of the French language is a plus.
